Wave textures are some of the most popular human hair wig styles — but "body wave," "deep wave," and "loose wave" get mixed up constantly. They photograph similarly yet wear very differently day to day. This guide explains how each one looks wet and dry, how much maintenance it needs, and how to choose the texture that fits your routine.
Body wave
Soft, loose S-shaped waves with lots of movement and the easiest maintenance of the three. Body wave looks effortless, blends well with relaxed or blow-dried natural hair, and straightens beautifully — giving you two looks in one. When wet it relaxes into gentle bends; air-dried with a little product it springs back into waves. Explore body wave wigs.
Deep wave
Tighter, deeper, more defined waves with rich texture and dramatic fullness. Deep wave holds its pattern well and looks glossy when conditioned. When wet the pattern tightens and looks almost curly; as it dries it loosens into deep, defined waves. The trade-off is moisture: the tighter pattern drinks up product and needs regular conditioning to stay defined. See deep wave wigs.
Loose wave
The middle ground — relaxed, beachy waves that are looser than deep wave but more defined than body wave. Loose wave is a favorite for a natural, "I woke up like this" look that still has shape. Browse loose wave wigs.
Quick comparison

A simple routine for wave textures
All three are 100% virgin Remy human hair, so they can be washed, conditioned, and heat-styled. To refresh waves: mist with water, work in a little leave-in conditioner, scrunch upward, and air-dry or diffuse on low. Sleep in a satin bonnet to protect the pattern. Wash every 7–14 wears with sulfate-free products. For the complete routine, read our wig care guide.
Frequently asked questions
Which wave texture lasts longest between washes?
Body wave, because its looser pattern needs less daily moisture and re-defining. Deep wave looks best with more frequent conditioning.
Can I straighten a wave wig?
Yes — all three are human hair and can be flat-ironed up to about 400°F. Body wave straightens most easily and returns to waves after washing.
